AHSLEA was once again part of APLF Hong Kong (12-14 March) where industry professionals gathered to discuss leather prices, trends, and innovations while making the most of networking opportunities. APLF is a key global industry calendar event that brings together businesses across leather, materials, and fashion. The Fair connects tanneries, suppliers, designers, and buyers worldwide to stay ahead of industry developments.
Visitor numbers at APLF were strong, providing a platform for industry discussions around our key challenges and how best to address them collectively. While feedback on business outcomes was lukewarm, the event facilitated important conversations. The International Leather Maker Symposium, held the day before the Fair, along with other industry body meetings, brought together key stakeholders. Sessions from the Leather Working Group and Leather Naturally provided participants with the opportunity to hear about new initiatives on sustainability, traceability, and transparency in supply chains. There was also much discussion and debate around leather advocacy work focused on brand and consumer education.
The Australian Pavilion provided a valuable meeting point and was well attended by suppliers and customers alike.
AHSLEA Executive Officer, Dennis King, participated in the opening ceremony of the Fair, with the association being recognized as one of the longest participating industry associations at APLF.
AHSLEA also facilitated two multi-country meetings of Hide, Skin, Leather and Tannery Associations to discuss collaboration in communications to the EU Commission President.
